ADIOS NATIONAL HOT DOG MONTH

Besides a dozen new postings, we stopped by Sonic Drive In twice for their footlong Coneys (and tipped very well both times), we had home made corn dogs with The Boy (the full version of the recipe, with cream style corn and chopped jalapeno peppers), Neighbor Neal dropped by for our Chili Cheese Dog Burritos, we covered the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest & commemorated our 34th anniversary in the weenie trade.

And we snagged a few neat items for the collection. Brother Jim sent us a money clip with hot dog he hand tooled out of leather and grabbed a neat ad icon for Sugardale Hot Dogs, a Cleveland area brand (although I'm not so sure he'll give it up as wife Gail says she wants to keep it).

We also checked in with Mike Gassman of The World's Largest Catsup Bottle in Collinsville, Illinois for an update on their annual hot dog eating contest.

Finally, we were unable to present The "Frankie" Awards for Hot Dog Excellence this year due to my health and a lack of consensus among the nominating board. There were close to a dozen excellent nominees and we had suggested presenting it to 4 time Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Champ Joey Chestnut but no one at his web site responded to our message...
