HOT DOGS IN A COLD WORLD

Recently, my brother Jim told us about a contest held by Pepsi which awards as much as $250K for new concepts and we checked it out, filled out an application and then were told new applications are only accepted at Midnight (EST) on the 1st of the month.

Fair enough, we waited until then, stayed up well past our bed time, until the designated hour, went to the site, hit the button and nothing happened (except multiple server timeouts and unable to connect messages). This went on for a full 33 minutes until the site said it would not accept any more applications until next month.

This just isn't the way to do it (for one thing, it penalizes us on the West Coast as we have to go through numerous servers and connections to log in while those closer to home have a much easier path) and we wrote a couple of messages to Pepsi in protest...
