Brother Jim and wife Gail recently took a bus tour just after Labor Day, this time to explore the wilds of Southern New Jersey.
They stayed in Wildwood, on the southern New Jersey shore, but made it up the coast to Atlantic City, did a little gambling in one of the casinos (Jim says he walked away with $290 in winnings from the quarter slots), visited various attractions such as Smithville as well as doing a little sight-seeing, dolphin watching from a boat on the water, hanging out at the pool, etc.
Their reservations were for a 4 night stay at a 2 room unit with separate living room / dining room / kitchenette and balcony. The suite had a full size refrigerator, 2 burner cook top, microwave, couch, dining table and a second TV set. Meals were included as part of the package deal and it was right around a thou for everything.
They were scheduled for several meals in a local restaurant (The Rusty Rudder) but skipped a few and checked out several other local places on their own.
Jim tells me he had a great chili dog at Auggie's Doggies and Gail had pizza a couple of times, once at Bill's Corner Deli and at Sal's (she really liked the pizza from Sal's - no web site).
The tour bus driver stopped at a couple of Roy Rogers restaurant on the Pennsylvania Turpike (both ways) so Jim and Gail split a burger & fries on the way there, chicken tenders or something like that on the way back. Jim also says he'll take the train the next time and rent a car locally so he can check out more of the area, eat at a few places he'd like to try, etc.
